About Educational Assessments
At The Social Learning Collective we are passionate about supporting children, adolescents and their families and assisting them to successfully navigate their journey through education. We offer a range of assessments in areas of learning including Literacy (Reading, Writing, Spelling, Comprehension) and Numeracy, Adaptive Behaviour Scales, Executive Functioning, Dyslexia and Cognitive Screening.
An Educational Assessment can help parents and educators gain insight to a child’s unique learning profile and academic ability. Each assessment can identify the academic strengths and weaknesses of each child and assist parents and educators to make informed decisions regarding their child’s educational placement, optimal learning environment and individual learning needs.
Understanding your child’s learning profile can assists with:
-
Helping them learn
-
Identifying students who require acceleration
-
Curriculum planning: using a strengths-based approach and supporting the areas of difficulty
-
Setting educational goals and identifying evidence-based reasonable adjustments within the school setting
Assessment process
Step 1 - Initial Consultation - Parent Only (Up to 30 minutes)
We discuss your concerns and review your child’s history and relevant background information. Assessment batteries and fees will be confirmed during this appointment.
Step 2 - 1:1 Assessment administration with your child (In clinic or, with permission, in your child's school)
Most assessments take between 90-120 minutes, if more time is required additional appointments will be booked at this time.
Step 3 - A detailed assessment report is written (Within 4 Weeks)
A written report will be prepared. The individualised report will clearly identify the results and key findings of the assessment and include evidence-based recommendations and practical advice to support your child's learning and engagement at school and at home.
Step 4 - Parent feedback appointment (Up to 30 minutes)
Key findings of the assessment are reviewed and recommendations are discussed, time will also be made available to answer any questions.
